Bentonite Clay Hair Mask

Hello Beautiful Readers!
I tried a new EXCITING experiment on my hair
with Bentonite clay.
I have read a lot of great things about this powder
so you know I had to try some.
I purchased my Bentonite powder from Ebay for a
great price!
Since I wasn't sure how to mix and apply it I followed this YouTube video
by Richeau.

I must say that after mixing and applying the Bentonite
I was VERY nervous because while applying it
my hair looked like it was BONE straight!
I was thinking "OMG, please don't permanent remove my curls".
I was so nervous that I rinsed out the mix after like 15 minutes...
LOL.
My hair was fine and CURLED right back up!
*jumps for joy*

I was also SHOCKED at how SOFT my hair was!
I was in AWE, it felt like
cotton silk. LOL
If that makes any sense.
I didn't believe all what I was reading about the powder but now I do.
I will definitely be using this "magic powder"
more often.

Here are some pics of my Bentonite Clay Experience:

Newly Natural Queen of the Week: Tiara

Enjoy the featured NNQ of the week!
Aren't her dreads AMAZING?

Name: Tiara

Time Natural: About a year and a half

Why did you go natural?
I wanted something different, and was tired of perming my hair. Plus, the last perm that I had broke my hair off. Especially around the edges. My older cousin also heavily influenced me since she has had locs for 8 years, and they are absolutely gorgeous.

Did you BC, transition, or both?
I started 2 two-strand twist; my ends were still permed. And I did the BC Oct 1, 2025 with about 3 inches or natural hair.

What response did you get when you BC’d?
None of my friends liked it at all. Not even my mom (even though she soon followed suit and loc’d hers). No one said anything super negative that I wanted to throw a perm in my hair. I mostly got “Why” and “What if you don’t look right with locs?”

What is your hair care regimen?
I really don’t have one. I get my hair re-twisted every 6 weeks. My stylist uses shea butter and coconut oil to re-twist my locs. And I try to grease my scalp and moisturize my hair at least 2 times a week with Dudley’s Hair & Scalp conditioner, especially since I get my hair colored so often. I’ve been blonde, platinum blonde, auburn, and orange. My hair really doesn’t take that much effort to maintain; it just seems to need love.

What is your hair type?
I obviously have locs, but my new growth is mostly 4a with some 3c.

What makes you a natural hair queen?
I’ve found myself, and now I’m much happier with my hair than I was before with permed hair. And I feel like a lot of other women are inspired to loc their hair because of mine.

My First Cassia Treatment

Hello Beautiful Readers!
Long time no blog, I have been super busy but starting today I am back in action!
For the past two months I have had a weave install in for my protective challenge.
I loved it! I am glad I was able to give my hair a much needed break.
(Weave install below)

Anyways, it took me about 45 minutes to take down my weave.
It was a pain but I got it done.
I was shocked at how much new growth I had and I was SUPER EXCITED!
After looking in the mirror for a good 10 minutes in AWE at my hair I decided it was time to wash it.
My hair was filthy and my scalp was BEYOND disgusting.

I washed with Giovanni's "Smooth as Silk" Organic Hair Care shampoo and followed up with the matching conditioner.
I purchased her "Smooth as Silk" set from Target and I must say I love it!
It took a few washes to get my hair clean and LOTS of conditioner to help de-tangle
but the end result were satisfying and I was ready to apply my Cassia Henna.

(Freshly washed hair pix below- I am 7 months natural!)

The Cassia powder smelled awful once I added the boiling water.
Kinda like wet grass. *smelly*
I added coconut oil for extra moisture and lathered it on my head.
Here is what it looked like before I put it on my hair:

*If you are going to try this BEWARE, lol, it is very messy!*

After my hair was fully saturated with the Cassia, I covered it with a plastic cap and let it sit for about 2 hours.
Rinsing it out was a pain but I used conditioner to help me do the job and after about 10 minutes, it was all out.

Final Thoughts: I will def be trying this again. My hair felt hydrated and soft after the treatment was rinsed out.
Although it is a very messy task, I plan on trying to do it every 3 months.
I would recommend that you all try it, at least once.
