In Review: Curl Collection's June Box

I am sure a few of you ladies have heard me say, sometime or another, that I am not a fan of product boxes. I've be sent quite a few, two being from Curl Box and Curl Kit but I wasn't compelled to sign up after seeing what was inside. I do think that those two brands in particular may be good for new naturals trying to find their way around the "natural hair product world," so there are perks about the box craze. However, for me, I just didn't need a box of products every month. My bathroom cabinet was already bursting through the seems with stuff.

I have cleaned under my sink many times and recently have gotten down to the products that actually use and will use in the future. Right around that time, Nadja, the owner of Curl Collection reached out after I expressed interest via Instagram. I was eager to learn more about the simple but sufficient all natural product boxes that she offered through her line. Talking to Nadja not only made me want the box but I was excited about what Curl Collection had to offer it's subbies.

The June box featured products from Amazing Botanicals:

Protective Styling with Heat Free Hair's "ForKinks" collection

I am super happy to give you guys another chance to learn more about the blossoming company, Heat Free Hair! Since I will be doing quite a bit of traveling this summer I decided it was time to get another weave install. My first Heat Free Hair install was the ForKurls colelction (3 bundles), I loved that line and was able to keep it installed for about 10 weeks. I also tested out the new ForKoils (3 bundles) line for about 6 weeks which was gorgeous, easy to detangle and super soft. However, this time around I decided that I wanted the ForKinks line. I will admit that I was a bit nervous since the hair is SO huge and a bit kinkier than my 4a coils but Ngozi ensured me that it would be just fine and blending would be a breeze. She was right! I got 2 18 inch bundles installed yesterday and I love it. Heat Free Hair has yet to fail me so I didn't expect anything less than greatness! All of the hair types offered by the company are pretty amazing but ForKinks is by far my favorite.

Before I jump into my thoughts I wanted to break down the hair that is offered by HFH by using Naturally Curly's hair type chart. Many people are overwhelmed by the options so this may help a bit...

ForKinks: 4b-4c

4b- Type 4b has a "Z" pattern, less of a defined curl pattern. Instead of curling or coiling, the hair bends in sharp angles like the letter "Z". Type 4 hair has a cotton-like feel. The hair is very wiry, very tightly coiled or bent and very, very fragile; you must take great care when working with it. Type 4 hair can range from fine/thin to wiry/coarse with lots and lots of strands densely packed together. Type 4b hair often shrinks up to 75% of the actual hair length.

4c- ype 4c hair is composed of curl patterns that will almost never clump without doing a specific hair style. It can range from fine/thin/super soft to wiry/coarse with lots of densely packed strands. 4c hair has been described as a more "challenging" version of 4b hair. Some say 4c looks identical to 4b except that the curls are so tightly kinked, there is seemingly no definition. 4c hair can shrink more than 75%.
