Can we talk about how I get my best puff balls from dirty hair? Also, may I ask why NO ONE told me how fabulous braid outs are?! Pictured above is my glorious puff from yesterday. It was soft, dirty and oily but it looked lovely. The puff was a result of a 3 day old braid out which was a result of a 4 day old wash and go. I love "old hair" especially when rocking puffs because I usually get treated to a "monster puff" depending on how old the style/ dirty the hair is.
Sunday is usually wash day so I snapped a few pics, went about my day and then slathered on the henna I had sitting from Saturday before bed. I haven't henna'd in a long time but I needed a good protein treatment. I also wanted to naturally tint the white hairs that I have all over my head. The henna worked perfectly as always! I kept it on overnight and rinsed this morning. It took forever to wash the henna out (about 3 good washes) and I had to condition really well but it was worth it.
My henna mix consisted of:
Henna from Henna for Hair
Orange Juice
Fresh lemon (1/2)
(The acids from the citrus triggered the release of red/auburn/copper tones in the henna.)
My hair is currently braided up with rods at the end for a "braid and curl out" tomorrow. I will post pics of my results this week.
PS. I really have fallen in love with braid outs! Twist out who?! LOL ;o)
xo,
Alex

That puff is lovely! I just started doing braid out myself and I too have fell in love. Twist-outs are a for the birds lol! I always wanted to try henna,I'm a just little apprehensive. But I may give it a try sometimes this year.

One question - how long does the henna coloring last in your hair? I probably wash mine every 2-3 weeks and condition/style it weekly. Thanks!
